History
Protective Coating Specialist, Inc. started in 1993 in the building with Huron Drilling, Inc. PCS started powder coating pipe for HDI, but could not keep busy enough. More customers were found. The process started with parts either sand-blasted outside, or washed by hand inside. Then they were hung on a cart and pushed into an oven to bake. Eventually a 4-stage dip tank was used to wash parts.
PCS built a storage building, but we soon outgrew that. The business moved to another building where a conveyor was set up and a powder booth was used. Soon this building was too small, and the business was moved into a brand new building that we built. Eventually a newer, bigger conveyor line was put in, and a burn-off oven was purchased.
As PCS continued growing, an addition was built to the west of the original building. After 9-11-2001 business was very slow, so the employees and owners put the building up. PCS built a packaging area to the east, and then the original building was doubled. A powder storage building was built, and a building for parts was put up across the road for storage. A canvas building was put up to blast and coat the inside and outside of large tanks. A blast booth was put in, another burn-off oven, a shrink-wrap machine, and other products were added to make everything faster and more efficient.
